Summary and Objectives:
?We are working on Implementation of Well-being in Asia and Problems & Prospects of Multicultural Societies as the theme of our program. We'd like to know what are the real conditions and problems that multicultural societies are facing with, especially in education, agricultural economics, health care and medical facilities, on their way to achieve well-being.
?As we know, Malaysia is a typical multicultural state and a multiracial society since its population is composed of at least 3 different races. For this reason, we have chosen Malaysia as our observation destination to try to find out what are the real problems existing there, and to set up possible solutions using multidisciplinary approach.
?In more details, we plan to visit and observe Sekolah Kebangsaan (national multiracial school) and Chinese School to learn about multicultural education run by Malaysian government, followed by a special lecture from a Professor of Sultan Idris University of Education about indigenous Malaysian people before we observe their village.
?We are also planning to have an observation about counseling network for mental health care in Malaysia in order to observe the real conditions, since compared to European, Asian hospitals are often inefficient in providing this kind of health care service. We can adjust the schedule for participants who wish to observe the counseling room, interview the staffs, etc.
?In Cameron Highland we plan to observe some agricultural facilities, such as tea plantation and strawberry plantation, to understand the development of agriculture in rural areas and learn about their economic power as one of the well-being pillars.
